Whistlers Excalibur Gondola Collapses

A friend of mines working Whistler this season got a bit of rude shock waiting for the Blackcomb Gondola...

Check out the Whistler site for details... sorry couldn't post the link:confused:

Yeah I copped a bit of that shock as well, we'd just finished our shopping and were walking up wondering why there were all these people standing around the base of the gondie. Thankfully noone was injured badly, we had to walk our shopping up the hill instead and under all the people stuck in the gondolas, kinda felt like I was rubbing their face in it lol.

Yeah? I can imagine walking up would have been much fun.

At least it wasn't the new peak to peak, that would have been really embarrassing for the Whistler management.

Yeah but at the same time they had the tower fixed in less than a week. Biggest inconvenience was that we had to walk up the hill to staff housing whislt the tower was being repaired. Considering where it happened it was very lucky that nobody was seriously injured. From memory a handful of people spent a night in hospital for observation so all in all a good outcome to something that could have ended a lot worse.
