Soundwave 2010!!

Has anyone been to the Brissey or Sydney Soundwave gig this year? If so which bands did you catch?

I'm heading to the Melbourne gig this Friday. Can't wait so many awesome bands playing.

Yes, went to the Sydney concert... Was hot, dusty, horrible location, tokens to buy drinks, long lines, fenced off over 18's areas to get a drink, main stages ran late and horrible congestion of all the cars coming in and out of the venue.

Bands on the other hand were fantastic.

I saw:
Taking Back Sunday - Good, big crowd and sounded like their CD's (Or what I have heard from my brother)
Set Your Goals - Hard to say good, not really my music... that being said, they put on a great show and were really energetic for such a shit timeslot as they were at like 2pm
Alexis on Fire - Great even though I didn't know their songs... Brutal mosh pit left me with cuts on my left hand and right knee. Totally dehydrated by this time. Their set went on forever and made the main stage late.
Reel Big Fish - I <3 this band so they were always going to be great. They did a cover of Enter Sandman and played all their hits... Very good performance. My mate went to Meshuggah and said the sound was bad for such a heavy act, it just sounded heavy and not that good.
Anthrax - Stand out performance, Played 2 out of the 3 songs I wanted to hear (Anti-social and Bring the Noise, didnt play Madhouse). Brutal mosh pit, I stayed out for most of it only going in to get a photo of me in there lol.
Placebo - Stopped by as they were playing Every me and Every you. They did a good job of that song
Jane's Addiction - Reasonable playing, not really worth seeing if you don't know their music but they put on a good performance.
Jimmy Eat World - Played all their hits but didn't really sound like their album versions... Singers voice was higher and whinier. Best songs were played 1st and then the last 5-6 songs.
Faith No More - One of the best performances I have EVER seen. Even if you don't think you know their music, its great and they will play 3-5 songs everyone should know. I would recommend seeing these guys even if your pants were on fire! lol.

Yeah I was at Soundwave in Sydney as well and other than the Bands who were awesome the event was horrid... I'd never go back regardless of how good the line was. In saying that wondered around and caught alot of the bands never really staying at 1 stage for a whole set just cause I wanted to see bands on other stages at the same time.

I was up at the Sydney Soundwave last year, what a horrible sucky venue. Its so far away from everything too! I remember standing out the front of the main entrance gate with 100's of people waiting to get in. We were in line for about 40 mins, the line hadn't moved at all so we decided to walk ALL the way around to the back gate and got in right away.

The Melbourne Venue is pretty good, big, open, shouldn't be dusty and its close to the city.

I'm still not sure which bands I'm going to catch, a few of them clash

The first time I went to soundwave, we were in a huge line waiting to get in (a friend had arrived about an hour earlier and was about 1/2 way up the line.) We walked round the side to the front of the line and when they opened the gates just pushed in and we were in within 10 minutes. An hour later, the friend rings me and asks how long we still got to get in cause she just got in and I'm like "We got in an hour ago" lol.

Just gotta be forceful. People at these concerts really don't give a shit about anyone but themselves and you have to do the same thing
