just got back from a weekend at buller and my ride ex binding ratchets kept getting jammed so i couldn't release my foot from the binding....anyone know what causes this and how i can fix it? or is it time for a new set of bindings...?

also....which do u guys think is better and why....toe caps or over the foot?

I'd replace the ratchet/'s before i would buy new bindings. sometimes when they get old they start to get stuck and not release properly.

and for your question. It's all up to the rider's opinion. I much rather prefer toe caps, mainly for comfort.

my bindings sometimes freeze over, especially on the front foot that doesnt get release all day, its annoying but i just bash them around until it breaks up and the teeth start catching again..

i have rome 390's which have a covertible toe-strap which basically means you can wear them on the toes or over the foot whatever you feel like, i usually have them over the toes... love them!

your bindings are ride aren't they shep? do the ratchets get stuck on your burton ones tnels? it happens on my sis' ride bindings too and she has only used them once...

guessing toe caps dont cut off the circulation to your toes?

My burton ones have never got stuck? Neither did my option bindings...

Toe caps are WAY better than normal straps.. They can still cut off circulation to your toes, but they give you a lot more toe edge control and better response.

i dont do my toe caps up tight any way. so no circulation problems for me. As for getting caught. occasionally on my old missions but they are 2 years old so its normal. but i just give them a good bash it comes right off.

as for ur ratchet problem, i cant really tell without looking at them. Most common problems, are either the teeth not coming up properly, the spring not working well, or rust around the moving bits.

mm yeh maybe its just ride bindings now coz i've heard of a few more people who have had the same problem with their ride bindings....

thanks for your help!

I don't want to restart PlayPod that often. Ten minutes is not enough to evaluate the product.

Yeah I had this issue with my Burton Cartel's but the ankle strap, ended up having to go at them with a screwdriver and unscrewing them to get it off at the end of a run. I ducked over to a the Wax and Tune place on the slopes and they replaced it with a new one (for $15) and now works a treat.
