Hi All

Am heading to Niseko for 2 weeks in February. Then we are travelling around Japan for 2 weeks. We are taking all our boarding gear with us, but want to send it back to Oz (Perth) after the 2 weeks on the mountain. Main reason is cause we'll be maxing our luggage out on the way over and don't want to carry two boards around Japan for 2 weeks, and storing it is a pain cause it'll mean we're maxed out coming home and won't even be able to buy a thing on the trip.

Has anyone used any services before to tackle a problem like this?

We have a 181cm burton bag to send with 2 boards, 2 boots, 2 bindings and some accessories ~22kgs.

Thanks

im it the same situation accept i am trying to ship back from china.. but the quote on the fedex site is quite steep... approx 500-600 AUD to ship.. :(
i have the same gear as you too...

what i am going to do is my mrs is going to pack her luggage which is about 10-15kg and i am going to take the boards etc as my checked in luggage and stuff my clothes in my carry on... which is a duffle bag - i believe is ok as carry on (max 7kg)

- i guess this wont work in your case, but if anyone has any ways to ship boards back on the cheap scale it would be great

This place says about $220 aud for 22 kilos. ($10 a kilo)

Thanks tjswish that looks really good, I'll look a little more into it!

krayzie I've had similar quotes from DHL, they told me that ordering the 'transfer/shipment' from here is really dare as they have to charge 'import fees' and import custom taxes are really expensive. However if you go to a DHL there and send it it'll be much cheaper, cause there's no 'importing' going on. That was the explanation of the person on the phone.

We too are thinking of the cramming of clothes for the carry on, as it's there to be used. At this point I'm somewhat siding with storing it at the airport and then doing careful packing to utilise the carry on to it's maximum on the way home :/
