50-50 Grind

If it's your first time trying this move, i'd recommend trying it on a low, ride on rail or a ride-on box. So if your trying a ride on, just approach the rail with a tiny bit of speed. The longer the rail/box however, the more speed needed.

Anyways, try to keep your board straight and as you approach the jump just ride up the little ramp and onto the rail/box. As your on the rail/box, just try and keep your weight even. Don't try and wiggle around and just try and ride straight off.

If you feel yourself losing balance DON'T try and fix yourself and do something different. Just ride off the side of the rail. Even if you fall, snow hurts a hell of a lot less than rails. Just simply ride off the end of the rail and ride away. After you get off the rail, just focus on landing evenly and smoothly. If you fall, then i suggest get back up, try again and keep practicing.

Sorry for the link to another snowboarding website/forum.

BUT The animations on there are not to be missed if learning new tricks. There is a step by step guide along with a flash clip of each trick for all you budding Padawans!.

http://www.abc-of-snowboarding.com/snowboarding-tricks/

Really worth a read for trick noobs. I will be attempting a few of these on my next trip.

biggest no-no is to edge on a rail/box, it hurts and if you do edge, you will learn the hard way. always remember speed is your friend with rails, ive seen too many guys hit a box/rail for the first time with no speed and absolutley get axed, funny to watch but not funny if your the dude getting axed.
